The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
Job Description Determining Initial and Ongoing Eligibility a.
Process applications/reviews/recertification's/redeterminations within time frames; b.
Interview applicants and clients both in person and via telephone; c.
Consult with clients and collateral contacts, both in person and via telephone; d.
Enter and review data using automated sources of information; e.
Communicate information regarding program rules, rights, and responsibilities; f.
Obtain and document necessary verifications as required by policy (income, resources, etc.
); g.
Authorize correct benefits according to program policy; h.
Documenting case actions in the case file.
Managing the Cases a.
Process review and recertification documents; b.
Process, review, and act on internal reports (not limited to DHHS, IWD, and SSA reports); c.
Process changes in eligibility factors; d.
Complete recoupments and vendor/facility adjustments; e.
Participate in the appeals and fair hearings process; f.
Make referrals to mandatory and non-mandatory services, e.
g.
CSRU, Promise Jobs, WIC, DIA, etc.
; g.
Respond to Quality Control reports and completing corrective actions when necessary; h.
Respond to case readings and completing corrective actions when necessary; i.
Manage case records according to policy/procedure; j.
Create correspondence such as requests for information; k.
Respond to customer concerns; l.
Schedule interviews and manage work time; m.
Processing appeals in accordance with policies and procedures.
The starting salary for a new state employee is expected to be at the base of the pay range.

Minimum Qualification Requirements Sixty semester hours (or equivalent academic units) from an accredited college or university; OR a combination of education and experience substituting the equivalent of one year of full-time public contact work experience obtaining, analyzing and/or evaluating data for each year of the required college education (on the basis that thirty semester hours is equal to one year of work experience); OR employees with current continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to 18 months of full-time work at a Clerk Advanced level or above involving public contact experience on a regular basis in a service area.
